In tellūre habitāmus. Tellūs plāna vidētur. Ea autem nōn plāna est. Nātūrā rotunda est. Nōs tellūrem globum vocāmus. Globus et sphaera vocātur. Tellūs magna est. Ea globus magnus est. Tellūs et terra vocātur.
Notes:
[1] tellūs, tellūris [3/f]: the
Earth; world; remember that 3rd declension nouns, as soon as an
ending is added, will add that ending to the stem of the noun which
comes from the genitive case which is why 3rd declension nouns are
always listed both with their nominative and genitive singular:
nominative singular: tellūs
> genitive singular: tellūr¦is
> tellūr- [stem; all endings are added to this]
nōs tellūrem globum vocāmus │ we call the Earth the
globe
in tellūre habitāmus │ we live on Earth
[2] The little text contains an important feature of Latin
known as the passive voice:
Globus et sphaera vocātur │ A globe is also called
a sphere
Tellūs plāna vidētur │ The Earth seems [= is
seen] flat
[3] Nātūrā [ablative] plāna est │ It is round by
nature [= naturally round]
