18.04.24: summary of case uses

This is a link to Latin Tutorial, a series of reliable videos. This one summarises the uses of the Latin cases; it begins by giving you an overview of the case endings, and, if that is completely new to you, it can seem overwhelming, and you could skip the start. As I’ve mentioned, all the posts here and on the other site where I’m posting everything, the cases and the endings are introduced gradually. These Latin tutorial videos are good (I used them when I was learning). For this video, I would suggest you begin at 02:00.

He makes reference at the beginning of the video to the order in which cases are listed, which can vary depending on the country where the language is being taught (and it can depend on individual authors). The system which he lists for the US system is the one that I have used in all the posts. NOMINATIVE – GENITIVE – DATIVE – ACCUSATIVE – ABLATIVE – VOCATIVE.
