Latin, like English, can have more than one word for describing similar types of weather feature, for example ‘a dark sky’ and ‘a gloomy sky’, ‘hot weather’ and ‘humid weather’:
maestus, -a, -um: gloomy
(h)ūmidus, -a, -um: humid
sūdus, -a, -um: bright;
clear
