Apud Britannōs cōnspectus eōrum ignium signum perīculī esse putābātur, quandō ipsī aut fugiēbant aut in castella sē recipiēbant et per vigiliās noctis sine quiēte sē dēfendēbant. Saepe Britannī secūrēs sūmēbant et arborēs caedēbant. Tum castella validiōra faciēbant.
