The number of
rhinoceroses in the world is estimated to be between 115,000 and 130,000. The
population is threatened by poachers, shrinking habitats, pollution, and
disease.
Two years ago,
more than 200 rhinoceroses in Namibia died from anthrax. In April, in a
national park in Ethiopia, 28 rhinoceroses were found dead from a cause still
unknown.
